Golden Tea

I’ve made a bunch of different types of this drink. One component I keep in every iteration is the black pepper. One I tend to omit that a lot golden tea recipes use is ground ginger. I love fresh or frozen ginger but the dried stuff is only on good for me in once in a while. There are some recipes where I love dried ginger but, more often than not, I leave it out.

For one large mug (at least 12oz):

1/2 tsp turmeric

1/4- 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4-1/2 tsp cardamom

¼ tsp nutmeg (freshly grated is best–I keep the nuts in my freezer–they last forever)

1-1½ tbsp of agave or maple syrup

Unsweetened Oat, Almond, or Soy milk (oat is my favorite)

Mix everything but the plant milk in the bottom of your favorite large mug. Gradually add and stir the plant milk until it’s mostly full. If you want it mixed really well pour it into a larger container and use an immersion blender–I have done this but only a few times–stirring with a spoon is enough for me. Microwave for 1 or 2 minutes.
