I LOVE hummus. It is sincerely the perfect food. I like to dip pretzels and veggies in it, I use it as a sandwich spread, I’ve put it on homemade pizza, I’ve made gravy with it. It has endless potential and it is always delicious. Much like pizza and sandwiches when it’s bad it’s still pretty good. 🥰 This is my general recipe—I have several permeations depending on what I need it for but this is my go-to for snacking.

Hummus
2 cans of chickpeas, drained (we prefer Bush’s)
1 to 2 heaping tbsp of tahini
4 garlic cloves (at least 4–when I’m sick I use 6-10 and the raw garlic makes it so hot it’s difficult to eat without taking breaks but it is great and soothing sick food) 🧄 Normal people might be happy with just 1 or 2 cloves
1-2 tbsp of lemon juice (if I have actual lemons I juice the whole lemon but I also keep a bottle of lemon juice in the fridge) 🍋
1 tsp of garlic powder (I like garlic) 🧄
1/2 to 1 tsp of salt
5 ice cubes 🧊
Optional add-ins:
1 tsp cumin or
1 tsp of cumin and 1tsp chili powder or
1 or 2 heaping tbsp of sambal oolek or
1 big jalapeño, stem removed but keep the seeds for a nice heat
Put everything in a food processor and process until smooth and no ice chunks remain. You will have to scrape the sides and push it down into the blades a few times but it will eventually get really smooth..
